  • Sebastiaan Goulooze (Leiden University)

Sebastiaan Goulooze currently works as a Ph.D. student at the Division of Systems Biomedicine and Pharmacology at the Leiden University. The research project involves the characterization of the concentration-effect relationship of post-operative analgesia in different patient populations including children. Within these models, we aim to identify covariates that are predictive of the inter-individual differences in the need for post-operative analgesia. These covariates might be found among patient characteristics (age, sex, disease history, etc.) and/or in metabolomic profiles of the patients. The identification of these covariates is relevant for the clinic, as they have the potential to guide individualized dosing of analgesics in clinical practice. The project is supervised by professor Catherijne Knibbe, professor Thomas Hankemeier and assistant professor Elke Krekels, with close collaboration with the Sophia Children’s Hospital (Erasmus MC, professor Dick Tibboel).
