Career Transition in Industry: Why, When and How?

  • Overview

Thank you

This live web event has ended. Thank you for attending.

Description

Career transitions are huge milestones for anyone and there can be countless factors to take into account when considering one. Often times we run into situations where we might be thinking of switching jobs but are not sure if we are making the right decisions. In this webinar, the PPDM community would like to invite two seasoned scientists from industry who have had some very successful career transitions and also have experienced different company sizes and setup. We would like to learn from their experience and seek advice in a form of panel discussion on topics related to career transitions within industry. Some of the key questions we would like to address are:

  • What would you say is the most important thing that someone should seek for when considering a career transition?
  • What would indicate a good or bad timing for a career transition?
  • Would you have a cautionary tale for someone thinking of a career transition?
  • What are the resources for someone thinking of a career transition? Network? Recruiter? Conferences? Mentor?
  • How was your transition between big and small companies? Can you describe the differences you felt and what you personally prefer?
  • Thinking back, can you point to the best transition you had in your career? Also the worst if you don’t mind?
  • What’s your top advice for someone thinking of a career transition?
