Speaker Bio

Carolyn L. Gegor, CNM, MS, FACNM earned her MS in Midwifery from Georgetown University in 1988. Her clinical practice primarily took place at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and the University of Maryland School of Medicine. Most of her academic work was as faculty and then Program Director of the Georgetown University Midwifery and WHNP Program. In her early nursing years, Ms. Gegor learned the skills of ultrasound beginning in 1972 when it was a new medical field. She worked as a sonographer for 3 years and then returned to the bedside of laboring and birthing women as a nurse and then as a midwife. Throughout her midwifery career she continued to teach nurses, midwives, and physicians the skills of ultrasound. When Carolyn retired from clinical and academic practice, she started Ultrasound for Midwives, a company with the goal of helping midwives and nurse practitioners with the skills of obstetric and gynecologic ultrasound. Now this is done via online courses as well as hands-on courses offered across the United States.
