More and more frequently, the oral surgeon uses analogic and digital diagnostic tools and workflows to perform oral and implant surgery procedures Does the use of these technologies always improve the precision of interventions, reducing morbidity and invasiveness? The current advantages and limitations of analogic and / or digital pathways in various clinical applications will be shown.

Upon completion of this presentation, participants should be able to:1) describe workflows applied in oral and implant surgery; 2) choose analog and/or digital diagnostic and surgical tools suitable for different clinical scenarios; and 3) recognize the current accuracy limits of digital workflows in implant surgery.

  • Giacomo Oteri, DDS, MD

    Giacomo Oteri is full professor, head of the post graduate program of Oral Surgery and Director of the Dental Clinic in the Department of Biomedical and Dental Sciences and Morpho-functional Imaging, University of Messina, Italy. He serves as Chairman the Italian Section of International Team for Implantology (ITI) and as Past President the Italian Society of Oral Surgery. Professor Oteri’s research interests involve the assessment of therapies and technologies intended to improve function and life quality in patients affected by oral and dental pathologies related with systemic conditions and drugs. In particular Professor Oteri develops and carries out interdisciplinary randomized clinical trials with expert teams of local and international collaborators He is author of book chapters and papers published in peer-reviewed dental and medical journals.

  • Matteo Peditto, DDS, PhD, MSc

    Matteo Peditto graduated magna cum laude in Dentistry in 2013. In 2018 he obtained a PhD in "Medical and surgical biotechnologies", after which he attended the 3-year post-graduate program of Oral Surgery at the University of Messina, Italy. He currently holds a research grant to investigate the impact of new smoking devices on oral and periodontal tissues. Dr. Peditto research interests are focused on oral and periodontal health, and the development of protocols in the management of the dental patient that involve new tools and technologies.
