Look to the (Golden) Rainbow: Case Management Practices in the Care of the Older LGBT Population

This session will examine the role of the professional case manager in addressing needs specific to the aging LGBT population. It will examine the impact of historic events, legislative decisions, health inequities and social morés on the care delivery system.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Recognize the significance of older LGBT persons as a marginalized population
    experiencing health inequality.
  • Discuss terminology and history as they relate to the care of the aging LGBT population.
  • Examine the role of the case manager in ensuring the provision of safe, non-
    discriminatory care for older LGBT persons.
  • Understand how and where to access resources specific to the needs of the aging LGBT population.
