Many workplaces will shy away from discussions about diversity and inclusion, often relegating these conversations to annual trainings for staff. These kinds of conversations typically do not happen on a daily basis at work and many people feel uncomfortable engaging in them with patients, families and co-workers. In this session, we will explore one workplace's attempt to cultivate greater comfort in having regular conversations about diversity and inclusion. Strategies and resources for enhancing one’s "toolbox" to have courageous conversations in the workplace will be explored.

Learning Outcomes:

• Recognize one's own privilege and how this impacts work with patients, families, and colleagues
• Define “courageous conversations” and explore strategies for how to start and facilitate these kinds of discussions in the workplace 
• Incorporate resources to cultivate a diverse and culturally competent knowledge base
