2020 IADR/AADR/CADR GENERAL SESSION
The 98th General Session & Exhibition of the IADR was to be held in conjunction with the 49th Annual Meeting of the American Association for Dental Research and the 44th Annual Meeting of the Canadian Association for Dental Research, from March 18-21, 2020 in Washington, D.C., USA. Due to COVID 19 and the world pandemic, the meeting had to be canceled, but we were able to collect some of the science that was planned for presentation to be available to our members as part of an on demand meeting. The recordings in this library are a selection of the science that was to be presented onsite at the General Session. These recordings give you the opportunity to participate in the meeting and hear from leading researchers. The recordings include IADR Distinguished Lecture Series speakers, IADR Centennial Plenaries and symposia from a collection of scientific groups and networks.
This session can be purchased as part of the full meeting recordings within the product bundles
SESSION DESCRIPTION
CariesCare International (CCI™) promotes a patient-centred, risk-based approach to caries management for dental practice. It comprises a health outcomes-focused system that aims to maintain oral health and preserve tooth structure in the long-term. The “CariesCare practice guide” was developed through a consensus of 46 acknowledged from 16 countries experts in the clinical implementation of cariology/public health, including periodontologist and psychologist to consider a wider health spectrum and the patient’s perspective. It is based upon the ICCMS™ Guide and best available systematic reviews, research evidence and expert opinion, with the final text agreed as best practice for the clinical care of patients in a primary care setting. In this Centennial IADR, throughout the symposium links between GV Black and CariesCare International will be presented, with an update on how CariesCare International leads to personalised interventions specific for each individual patient’s risks and needs, and with reference to international research. The symposium will start with introducing CariesCare International as a four-step structured process (4-D cycle), followed by each ‘D’, answering following questions:
1st D – DETERMINE caries-risk. How did we arrived to two caries-risk levels?
2nd D - DETECT & ASSESS lesions. Why merging ICDAS caries codes into three categories?
3rd D: DECIDE a personalised care plan. What is the patient’s perspective and why is it relevant?
4th D: DO Preventive and tooth-preserving care. How to manage in the clinic the individual risk and caries lesions for long-term results?
Conclusions on CariesCare implementation mirroring GV Black will follow.
