2020 IADR/AADR/CADR GENERAL SESSION
The 98th General Session & Exhibition of the IADR was to be held in conjunction with the 49th Annual Meeting of the American Association for Dental Research and the 44th Annual Meeting of the Canadian Association for Dental Research, from March 18-21, 2020 in Washington, D.C., USA. Due to COVID 19 and the world pandemic, the meeting had to be canceled, but we were able to collect some of the science that was planned for presentation to be available to our members as part of an on demand meeting. The recordings in this library are a selection of the science that was to be presented onsite at the General Session. These recordings give you the opportunity to participate in the meeting and hear from leading researchers. The recordings include IADR Distinguished Lecture Series speakers, IADR Centennial Plenaries and symposia from a collection of scientific groups and networks.
This session can be purchased as part of the full meeting recordings within the product bundles
SESSION DESCRIPTION
Over the first centennial of dental research, dramatic innovations have occurred. We have deciphered the etiology and potential therapies of dental diseases. However, dental pathologies throughout the globe remain disturbingly and unacceptably prevalent. Moreover inequalities between and within regions remain abundant. IADR has prioritized this situation in our Global Oral Health Inequalities Research Agenda - GOHIRA®. After 100 years, our profession and discipline need to identify and emphasize the “translation of evidence” into pragmatic wide and regional health care models. The present symposium will present 3 health care models on 3 continents, and their adoption from Scotland to Peru and the Philippines. Frameworks and research of these models will be presented. The three presenters will act as a panel after their presentations to discuss and compare the various models. Future potential for this translational research will be critiqued.Learning Objectives:
- Attendees will be able to identify different models which increase oral health and decrease oral disease, especially among children.
- Attendees will be able to recognize the need for different effective models to decrease inequalities, within the regions.
- Attendees will be able to present the complexities of health promotion in different global regions.
