The prevention of hazards originating from Food Fraud/Economically Motivated Adulteration (EMA) has become a compliance requirement with the implementation of the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA - Human Foods Preventive Controls Rule 21 CFR 117). Many food facilities will need to implement some preventive controls to protect against Food Fraud/EMA that would result in a health hazard.
