DWIHN/MI-AIMH - FIRST Steps for BABIES©

This training is sponsored generously by the Detroit Wayne Integrated Health Network (DWHN). Therefore, only those individuals employed by a Detroit Wayne Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health program are allowed to register.

Training Series Description:
This training has been developed by: WONDERbabies : Ways Of Nurturing Development through Enhancing Relationships for medically fragile and developmentally challenged babies and their families. The FIRST Steps for BABIES© is a two-day foundational training which provides both a framework to learn about the foundations of newborn and young infant development through The FIRST Steps for BABIES© approach. This training will include an introduction to the BABIES Adaptive Behavior Inventory. Additionally, participants will learn about the progression of the caregiver-infant relationship as the infant develops using the PreSTEPS Model®. This training will cover brain development, regulation and co-regulation, relationships, reflective stance perspective and will include video case examples. This training will include an introduction to the Babies Adaptive Behavior Inventory (covered more on Day 3) and will cover how to use the Caregiver Guide. The WONDERbabies NICU Caregiver Guide will be provided.  Registrants will receive instruction on where/how top pick up this item

Please note, a third virtual training day is being planned for the Winter of 2022-2023. It is expected that those who attend this training, will do their best to attend the third day. The third training will go more in depth on the: Babies Adaptive Behavior Inventory (BABI). Additional information can be found here: https://www.wonderbabies.org/babi-training/

This training is for 0-3 IMH Home Visitors who would like additional training focused on newborns and young infants who are medically fragile. HURRY! Attendance is limited to 20-25 people!

  3. You will receive a confirmation email with the ability to add the first training date to your calendar
Access and Participation: Once you have registered for the training you will receive a confirmation email with a "join" button to use the day of the training. You will be able to add the event to your calendar and access the zoom link there as well. In order to receive a certificate and/or Continuing Education you will need to have a Zoom account (which is free) logged in to view the training. Attendees must keep their video on for the majority of the training as part of the requirement for CEC's. 3. 1-hour before the training starts
4. A few days after the training with a reminder about required follow-up steps
