2022 Explorations in Development

REGISTRATION IS OPEN

Surviving and Thriving: Reflecting on the Challenge and Preparing for Our Future
Presented by Barbara Stroud, PhD

The 2022 Explorations in Development training will be about addressing adversity, including adversity that has resulted from the impact of COVID-19 on infants, young children, families, and communities. For example, recognizing the impact of trauma stemming from racial violence and the pandemic and recognizing that the pandemic has impacted the experience of pregnancy, labor and delivery, and early parenting. In addition, Dr. Barbara Stroud will discuss how the past years have impacted IECMH professionals - including their ability to be with families (emotionally and physically) and their own experiences of trauma related to racial violence and the pandemic.

In addition, Dr. Stroud will speak about moving forward. For example, how we can use what we learned from the past years and how we can envision coming back together as we heal from our recent experiences. To further discuss this historical experience, we will invite a panel of parents to discuss what pregnancy and early parenting has been like for them; and we will invite a panel of IECMH professionals to discuss how their work has been impacted.
