    Description

    This California Office of Emergency Services (CalOES) Safety Assessment Program (SAP), presented by NCSEA, is based on ATC-20/45 methodologies and forms. This SAP training course provides engineers, architects and code-enforcement professionals with the basic skills required to perform safety assessments of structures following disasters. Licensed design professionals and certified building officials will be eligible for SAP Evaluator certification and credentials following completion of this program and submission of required documentation.

    This is Day 2 of the CalOES Safety Assessment Program.

    • Derek Hanson, PE

      Derek Hanson is the President of Structural Engineering Excellence, Inc. and holds professional engineering licenses in both Arizona and California. He serves as a Structures Specialist for the FEMA Arizona Task Force One and as a Co-Chair with the Arizona Structural Engineers Emergency Response Committee. Derek is the southwest region coordinator for NCSEA SEER Committee and is a CALOES Assessor, Coordinator, and Instructor.

    • Klaus Perkins, PE, SE

      Klaus Perkins is an Associate Principal and Structural Department Head with Clark Nexsen, Inc. and holds professional engineering licenses in North Carolina, Virginia, California, and Florida. He is a Structures Specialist for North Carolina USAR Task Force 8, the Mid-Atlantic Regional Coordinator for the NCSEA SEER Committee, and a CalOES Assessor, Coordinator, and Instructor. Klaus was involved in the 2020 Puerto Rico Earthquake EMAC response and conducted a rapid assessment of over 200 damaged structures.
