Description

Alberta Bair Theater
The historic Alberta Bair Theater renovation was an exercise in forensic investigation, creative detailing and problem solving, and construction coordination. Lack of original drawings, combined with a previous remodel, required extensive field research to document existing construction and load paths. This presentation will highlight some of the design challenges resulting from the overall project vision and the structural approach and solutions used to solve those challenges.
Presented by: Dane Jorgensen, P.E., S.E., and Joel Anderson, AIA, Cushing Terrell

Taiyuan Botanical Garden Domes
The Taiyuan Botanical Garden Domes complex in Taiyuan, China features 3 domes ranging from 43m to 88m in diameter and from 12m to 30m in height. The largest of the three domes is the longest clear-span timber gridshell (non-triangulated) in the world. StructureCraft came on early as the structural engineer for the domes, and through the cooperation of all team members on three different continents in less than a year, a unique series of long-span timber structures was delivered to the city of Taiyuan, providing a beautiful, world-class attraction that emphasizes both sustainability and structural integrity.

Presented by: Lucas Epp, StructureCraft

  • Course will award 1.5 hours of continuing education for the live session only.
  • Each series registration is per person.
  • This will be available as a recording, with no PDH attached
