There are many commonalities in design that can be efficiently copied from one project to another to save time and improve output, but we invite trouble into our projects when copying and pasting takes the place of appropriately thorough, intentional design. This webinar will review several shortcomings of structural contract documents repeatedly observed over the course of the author's years doing delegated design for steel fabricators. A common factor behind each of them was "copy and paste engineering," the unexamined reuse of items from previous documents in new drawings or specifications where they introduce errors, contradictions, or simply ambiguity. Seeing how these lapses affect those downstream can help viewers to improve their own office design practices.
