As many
states and local jurisdictions go to the 2015 or 2018 International Building
Code (IBC), the structural engineer can no longer rely on the existing building
provisions included in Chapter 34 of the IBC. This two-part series will go
through the structural provisions that are included in the 2018 IEBC. Part 2
addresses the specific provisions for the work area compliance method which
comprises the majority of the code. Requirements for repairs, alterations,
additions, moved structures and historic structures will be addressed.
