Description

You just received a gift from a long-term donor. Oh no! They have a donor advised fund at the community foundation! What does this mean? How do you respond?

You are getting to know someone whose values you believe align with your organization’s mission. You learn they have a fund at the community foundation. What do you do?

Your organization is developing a new program or has the potential to expand its services but needs some initial funding. What about the community foundation?

When it comes to nonprofits and community foundations, it is an easy leap to think they are competing for charitable dollars. This shouldn’t be the case. How do you build a better relationship with your community foundation that helps you unlock the charitable dollars that are already given and just waiting to make an impact in your community? This session will provide guidance and a conversation on how nonprofits and community foundations can work together to strengthen a community and encourage philanthropy in all its forms.

Learning outcomes:

  • Participants will learn how to incorporate community foundations into their fundraising plans
  • Participants will understand why a community foundation may be the best vehicle for their donor’s charitable giving
  • Participants will gain a basic understanding of the types of funds and services offered by community foundations
