Canadian Association of Emergency Physicians

Canadian Association of Emergency Physicians (CAEP)

As the national voice of emergency medicine (EM), CAEP provides continuing medical education, advocates on behalf of emergency physicians and their patients, supports research and strengthens the EM community. In co-operation with other specialties and committees, CAEP also plays a vital role in the development of national standards and clinical guidelines.

The CAEP Community is proud of the work our sections and committees have accomplished throughout our 40+ years. Many initiatives have started out as ideas at a committee meeting. We would like to thank all our members who volunteer their time to improve patient care by participating on a committee and invite you to make use of the collaborative workspace and discussion boards provided. Those interested in becoming involved in one of these groups can find the relevant contact points on our website.

The vision of CAEP’s CPD department is to provide high quality education to Canadian emergency physicians and trainees.
CAEP’s CPD committee oversees the development of robust and timely education to Canadian physicians and trainees in the specialty of emergency medicine, specifically:
  • Provides education in various formats including in-person courses and conferences, online courses and webinars, and podcasts
  • Develops online education programs that are accessible both live and on demand including webinars, online courses, and virtual Grand Rounds
  • Incorporates diverse perspectives on our planning committees through representation from our Academic Section, Rural and Small Urban Section and EDI taskforce.
  • Integrates best evidence as outlined by our EM practice committees or from other reliable sources of primary literature, systematic reviews, or clinical practice guidelines.
