2020 has challenged our ability to manage change and engage with discomfort. More people are talking about racism, wondering about the future of global relations, and engaging with DEI. Organizations have release statements, increased trainings, open spaces for conversations about race. People are reading about White privilege, attending book clubs, and wanting to have dialogues across-cultures. However, effective steps to address inequity require this and more. 2021 will test our ability to turn the learnings of 2020 into long-term processes to transform organizations created to privilege some communities and unintentionally or intentionally ignore their impact on historically underrepresented communities. During this DEI Discussion, Xavier Ramey from Justice Informed set the context to understand the relation between DEI and food inequity and help make the connection between personal and professional responsibility.
