Course Description
The Retirement Certificate Program offers to those who take it a well-rounded view of retirement options, associated tax issues, and consideration for maximizing financial success. Attendees will have the opportunity to learn how various retirement funding options are taxed and integrated.

Learning Objectives:
  • List the breadth of retirement programs most used by our clients, including Traditional IRAs, Roth IRAs, SEP IRAs, SIMPLE IRAs, traditional 401(k) plans, Roth 401(k) plans, 403(b) plans, 457 plans, annuities, and Social Security or Railroad Retirement benefits.
  • Contrast employer plan options at a high level.
  • Describe taxability issues for each common retirement plan account.
  • Discuss pros and cons for ways to integrate Social Security into a taxpayer’s retirement picture.
  • Recall key issues related to identifying beneficiaries on retirement accounts.

Beth Logan, EA
Beth Logan, EA, is the owner of Kozlog Tax Advisers. Her business provides tax preparation, representation, tax advise, and business consulting for clients throughout the US and globally, focusing on Massachusetts. Logan became an Enrolled Agent in 2013 and has been a member and active participant in MaSEA and NAEA, including two years as MaSEA President and one year as NAEA Education Chair. She has presented many tax classes to Enrolled Agents and laypersons, writtennumerous articles, and written three books on taxes, including the latest, Divorce and Taxes After Tax Reform. She has two electrical engineering degrees from Georgia Institute of Technology and an MBA from University of Maryland, College Park.

Michael Miranda, CPA, QKA, AEP
Bringing 46 years of experience with tax consulting, estate planning, and employee benefits to his work as an independent consultant, Michael is the owner of MIRANDA CPA & Consulting LLC in Sioux Falls, SD. His tax practice focuses on corporate, individual, estate and gift, and tax accounting. He also provides employee benefit planning and consultation services for qualified, non-qualified, and health and welfare benefit plans. As a nationally recognized tax speaker, he maintains an active schedule presenting webinars and seminars on tax law, employee benefit planning, and estate planning. Prior to 2017, he spent 27 years with a regional CPA firm and 13 years with a Big 8 accounting firm.

Sandra R. Turner, is an IRS registered tax preparer in Oviedo, FL. Sandra is associated with Retirement Plan Specialists, Inc.

Diane Castell, EA
Diane began working for her father’s CPA practice at a young age. She sent on to earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting in 1990, and eventually started her own business in accounting and tax preparation back in 2000.
Diane worked for H&R Block and Intuit for several years developing her skills and getting her certification as an Enrolled Agent from the IRS in 2008.
Diane has maintained relationships with clients all over the United States and has extensive experience in researching and filing returns in over 40 states.

Continuing Education
This course qualifies for IRS and CTEC Continuing Education Hours. NAEA reports IRS/CTEC CE on a monthly basis.
