CRC AT for Physical Access and Participation Series (2024-2025)

This series includes courses selected for Certified Rehabilitation Counselors working in the field of physical disabilities with Assistive Technology (AT).

CRC CEU Information for Courses included in this Series:

This series is eligible for up to 11.0 CRC Hours or 1.1 CRC CEUs.

This activity is valid with this Pre-Approval number from March 20, 2024, through March 19, 2025. The CRCC Pre-Approval number is included on the CRC Certificate issued once you complete a course and the appropriate evaluations.

This series includes eleven courses. You may purchase one, multiple, or all courses included in this series. Each course expires 60 days after the date of purchase of this bundle.

Before submitting your CEU(s) to CRCC for a course or courses included in this series, please be sure to complete all courses you intend to complete within this series. CRCC will only allow you to submit once for courses included in this CRCC pre-approval number. The CRCC system will not allow you to go back at a later date and add additional CRC hours to your initial submission for this pre-approval number.

Learning Objectives for the Series:

  1. Identify three clinical implications to integrate AT with the medically complex children.
  2. Review two solutions of rehab technologies to promote functional skills and encourage recovery potential with medical-based programs.
  3. Identify three various access methods available to promote independence in daily activities.

  1. Describe four components to organizing a successful Toy Adaptation Day.
  2. Develop a four step plan of implementation for your own Toy Adaptation Day.
  3. Customize at least three different resources for your own Toy Adaptation Day.

  1. Identify at least ten different AT solutions that can be made with Hook and Loop.
  2. Identify at least five different AT Solutions that can be made with Loc-Lift RG tape.
  3. Identify at least five different solutions made with double sided permanent foam mounting tape.

  1. Identify at least three barriers and three benefits to participation in outdoor recreation for people with disabilities.
  2. Identify one or more potential partners in your local environment who might be working on adaptive recreation.
  3. Describe the function of at least five pieces of AT in the field of adaptive recreation.

  1. Identify one or more alternative tools and activities to facilitate learning switch access.
  2. Identify one or more ways to implement the use of computer based activities that develop switch access skills.
  3. Describe one or more evaluation methods to assess progress with switch access skills.

  1. Describe three positive outcomes for AT users, peers and teachers from variety of backgrounds in relation to AT use.
  2. Identify three themes to increase AT use and acceptance within a classroom or education setting.
  3. Discuss three benefits of building and creating assistive technology within education settings.

  1. Identify three unique ways a patient can alert caregivers within a home setting.
  2. Develop a basic smart home set up to be shared by caregivers and patients that includes at least four solutions to increase independence and safety.
  3. Define five concerns when choosing smart home equipment to be used by people with compromised physical or cognitive abilities.

  1. Identify two accessibility barriers located within and around a residence.
  2. Identify two potential solutions to address accessibility barriers within and around a residence.
  3. Describe three assistive technology devices or modifications used in a residential setting.

  1. Identify and compare two interfaces for switch control on the iPad.
  2. Describe one or more ways how voice control is used on the iPad for leisure, work and environmental tasks.
  3. Describe one or more ways how switch control is used on the iPad for leisure, work and environmental tasks.

  1. Identify 3 websites that provide repetition with variety through single switch access.
  2. Discuss 2 AT devices that assist with access to technology for students who use switches.
  3. Develop a collection of 10+ switch accessible websites to share with teachers and/or families for use at home or school.

  1. Describe at least three alternative modes of community mobility, including their pros and cons.
  2. Describe at least three pieces of adaptive equipment that can be used to enhance community mobility and safety, including their pros and cons.
  3. Describe at least 3 reasons why community mobility is important for mental, emotional, and physical health
